Assignment Due at Midnight

Please remember that the Essential Elements assignment is due tonight at Midnight. Please refer to their handout or the previous post on this website with a video included to help you out if your student has not yet recorded their assignment.

Some of our band students got to meet Silento yesterday as he visited the middle school. I have attached a picture below. He walked over to some of our sixth graders and asked them if he could take a picture with them. They were excited! Have a great long weekend and look out for the Carrollton Trojan Band in the parade on Monday.

Essential Elements Assignment

Good evening,

I hope that you are all rested and ready to begin this semester with enthusiasm! I feel so thankful to be back working with your amazing students and feel rejuvenated from our break.

A quick note: The yearbook is looking for pictures of our students at their Holiday Concert. If you have any photos from that night whether it is of us on stage or of your kids please email them to me so that I can forward them to be put in our yearbook!

I have attached a video below that will explain how the students will turn in their assignment that is due on this Friday, the 13th. The students have created accounts on the Essential Elements Interactive website and have received guidance and training on how to use this software. Thankfully, it is at no cost to any of us and it can be reached anywhere that has internet, on any device that has internet. There is even an app for the iPad that has just been released.

Please log on to https://www.essentialelementsinteractive.com

The username for the students is their first and last name with no spaces or capital letters. The password was set by the students.

Please watch the video with your student and assist them in having the assignment turned in by the 13th of January. I would prefer for it to be turned in early if possible!

OUTSTANDING JOB!

Good morning,

I cannot say enough great things about the performance last night! The students were very well prepared, professional, and performed with pride! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your evening to allow for your students to perform and for attending the concert to support them. We have an incredible community here and I feel so blessed to do what I do, especially after nights like last night.

I will be at a conference beginning tomorrow morning so IF the band jackets do not come in today they should be in by the end of the week. I will have the substitute hand out their band jackets if they come in after today.

PLEASE make sure that your students bring home their horn after today. They will not play in class and we need to make sure that they touch their horn during the break so that we can come back in January and continue to grow!

Tubas, baritones and  horns will need to speak with me if they wish to bring their horn home to practice.

Have a FANTASTIC holiday break!

SPRING CONCERT DATE CHANGE

Good evening,

Due to our Savannah trips this year for 5th and 6th grade, we will not have our Spring concert at the end of the year. Since we are combining our concerts with CMS Singers we decided that we would choose the date that they usually perform which is the week before Spring Break.

Our new Spring Concert date is March 30th at 7pm. We will still play at the Mabry Arts Center (the theater here in campus at the high school) and the report time will still be 6:30.

I have a lot of planned things for the Spring Concert that will make it a blast for all of us and cannot wait for your kids to show off at their Holiday Concert on December the 12th. Please make sure that your kids get black dress pants (no jeans), some black socks, a black belt and some black shoes (no tennis shoes). We want for our students to look and sound professional. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions that you have!

Sincerely,

M. Menendez

Jacket Order due tomorrow (11/11/16)

See below for a quick reminder about our jacket order. Tomorrow is the last day that I will accept the orders. From Monday on you will need to bring your order to Ozier Apparel yourself. Your jacket will most likely come in at a later time than the ones that are placed with me Friday evening.

Each coat comes with our exclusive Trojan band logo embroidered on the left side.  For $5 extra you can have your child’s name, and instrument added.  We will sell these coats until November 11th, and then turn in the orders to Ozier Apparel.

Important items to remember:

  • PLEASE MAKE SURE TO WRITE YOUR CHECKS TO OZIER APPAREL, NOT CMS BAND.
  • PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SPELL YOUR NAME CORRECTLY AND YOUR INSTRUMENT CORRECTLY WHEN ADDING $5 FOR EXTRA EMBROIDERY.
  • COATS ARE NOT REQUIRED THEY ARE JUST A FUN ADDED EXTRA.

We have several sizes in the band room if you would like to try them on your child before writing your size.  These also make great gifts for your child if you would like to order them secretly and turn them in directly to me without them knowing, just turn the order form and money in to the front office and they will put it in my mailbox.  I will link the order form in the “Forms” section of the website if you would like to print one.

Trojan Band Jackets

Good morning,

It seems like our cookie dough is settling down once we get our mint chocolate chip order in. I cannot thank you enough for your patience with that! I’m very proud of you all and your efforts in that fundraiser. It was a huge succuess.

Today we rolled out our coat sale in class.  Each student received a coat order form with three different styles.

Cookie dough delivery change

Yes. You read that right. I am beyond frustrated and embarrassed to tell you that the cookie dough will not come in tomorrow. The company has already heard from our fundraiser representative and will hear from me tomorrow morning.

If I could apologize an unlimited amount of times, I would.

We will keep our heads up and try to remain positive and prepared for our delivery on Monday.

cookie dough order October 18th

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to spread the word that the cookie dough order is still set to come in on October the 18th. We will get the cookie dough in the morning and will sort it out so that students can bring it home with them that afternoon. If your child sold a lot of cookie dough it is recommended that they are a car rider that day.

We are still looking for volunteers to help with the sorting of the cookie dough that morning. Please let me know if you are available.

COOKIE DOUGH October the 18th

Good morning,

I was contacted by our fundraiser representative and our cookie dough is set to come in on October the 18th, not the 11th. This is partially because of our early release the week before and also because of the cookie dough manufacture themselves. Please spread the word and let your customers know.

I was told by the representative that you guys knocked the fundraiser out of the park. You would not believe the amount of money that you all raised for our band program. I am one proud band director!

Don’t forget about our two concerts that are set in stone:

December the 12th

May the 15th

Both at the Mabry Art Center with a report time of 6PM

Sincerely,

M. Menendez
