Cookie Dough Delivery Date Change

Good afternoon,

I regret to inform you that the cookie dough company will not have the cookie dough in tomorrow. They will be in on Friday October the 21st at 10AM.

Once again, the cookie dough will not be turned in tomorrow but this Friday instead. Thank you to the volunteers for sending emails stating that you were available to help tomorrow. If you are able to help on Friday instead beginning around 9:45AM please email me.

I cannot thank you all enough for your patience with this.

cookie dough order October 18th

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to spread the word that the cookie dough order is still set to come in on October the 18th. We will get the cookie dough in the morning and will sort it out so that students can bring it home with them that afternoon. If your child sold a lot of cookie dough it is recommended that they are a car rider that day.

We are still looking for volunteers to help with the sorting of the cookie dough that morning. Please let me know if you are available.

COOKIE DOUGH October the 18th

Good morning,

I was contacted by our fundraiser representative and our cookie dough is set to come in on October the 18th, not the 11th. This is partially because of our early release the week before and also because of the cookie dough manufacture themselves. Please spread the word and let your customers know.

I was told by the representative that you guys knocked the fundraiser out of the park. You would not believe the amount of money that you all raised for our band program. I am one proud band director!

Don’t forget about our two concerts that are set in stone:

December the 12th

May the 15th

Both at the Mabry Art Center with a report time of 6PM

Sincerely,

M. Menendez

Important announcements

Hello all,

Thank you very much for your hard work this semester. Below are a couple of important announcements.

Cookie Dough: Depending on the amount of boxes that your student sold, they may owe money towards their band performance polo. The goal was to sell 7 boxes to earn their band polo. Three dollars from every box sold goes towards their $21 band performance polo. This shirt is needed to perform at all CMS and CJHS Band events. Please contact me with any questions.

Cookie Dough Delivery: The cookie dough is set to come in on the second full week of October. It looks like Tuesday the 11th is our goal date to have the cookie dough delivered. If you would like to assist in organizing and counting the cookie dough I will need a lot of help during the school day. Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering.

Band Concerts: We finally have our two concerts set up for the school year. We will share with CMS Singers for both of these concerts. If your child is in both ensembles then they will be given plenty of time to change or transition as needed.

Our Holiday Concert is December the 12th beginning at 7PM.

Our Spring Concert is May the15th beginning at 7PM.

Report times for both concerts is 6PM at the Mabry Arts Center at the high school.

Playing Test: We had a very successful first playing test last week. A student may make up any test grade for me throughout the year. Please check their grade and encourage them to push for a 100. Also keep an eye on their practice log grade and their weekly participation grade. Students with great practice log grades and participation grades are more likely to excel on playing tests.

Please contact me with any questions: maria.menendez@carrolltoncityschools.net

Ms. Menendez

Practice Logs

Good afternoon,

We had a pretty good turnout for the cookie dough fundraiser today. If your child did not turn in their money and form today then they must turn it in tomorrow.

PLEASE make sure to sign the practice log that your child has been filling out this week. Every single Friday we will check that for a grade. They are not required to practice for much, but for just an hour total per week. They may break it up however they want as long as they are taking an hours worth of time throughout the week to reinforce what we learn in class.

Thank you for supporting our fantastic band students!

Cookie dough turn in

Good evening,

Please read the letter sent home today about our cookie dough fundraiser. Our orders can get sent out sooner if we have little to no mistakes. Please take the time to double check the amount on the form and approve that it matches the money turned in.

Thank you for all of your hard work!

FALL COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER

On Monday we began our annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser by distributing materials out to the students. This sale will take place over 2 weeks and will be a great way for our students to help raise money for the band and also for their own personal band goals.

For 5th/6th graders they can earn money towards their band performance polo shirts ($21). For every box of cookie sold the student will get $3 toward their shirt. Each student will need a band performance polo shirt for our performances this year.

Students will sell boxes of cookie dough and collect the money. On September the 15th, the money will be due in class along with the order form taker and we will count the orders to send off to the company. The cookie dough is set to come in during the first two weeks of October. As soon as I know the date of the order delivery, you all will know. The students will simply grab their orders of cookie from school and take them home with them on the bus or in the car.

The money raised in all of our fundraisers goes directly to support our band account which is used for repairs of school owned instruments, supplies and music purchases, and to pay guest teachers and clinicians to work with your awesome children.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns:

JUMP START CAMP TOMORROW

Parents,

I am extremely excited for our Jump Start Camp tomorrow morning! Remember that it will begin at 9AM and end at 12PM (noon). You may drop your student off and pick them back up after the camp is over from the Bus loop. The students will meet in the gym and exit from the gym.

I look forward to a great day of music making!

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez

5th Grade Instrument Night

Good morning!

I look forward to seeing the fifth grade students tonight at our instrument night. You may stop by at any time between 5-8 PM to order your instrument. Instruments are set to be delivered on Saturday August 20th at our Jump Start Camp.

Make sure that you leave with an Essential Elements book! That is our music for the year.

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez

Welcome!!

Good afternoon,

I cannot tell you how excited that I am to begin this year. I am not sure how, but I somehow got the best students in the school placed in band! All jokes aside, your students have been fantastic so far. I am looking forward to growing with them this year.

A few reminders:

Instrument Night

We have two instrument nights. 5th grade has theirs on August 16th from 5-8pm. 6th grade has theirs on August 17th from 5-8pm. Both instrument nights will be located in the gym/band room (the two rooms are combined). You may show up at ANYTIME between those times listed above. We ask that you aim for 5, 6, or 7 because we will host an informational meeting to answer your questions at that time. After that meeting we will send you in the band room to speak to a Music and Arts representative to sign up for your instrument. They will speak to  you about renting or purchasing. I do not have the prices at the moment for the instruments since they change every year depending on the market but we choose to stay with Music and Arts because they provide quality instruments with the lowest prices around. This is only the night where the instrument are ordered, they will be delivered on our Start Up Day. If you cannot make a day at all then please let me know and we can have you all come on the other day.

Saturday Jump Start Camp

As stated in the form sent home, this will be a great new tradition this year. Students will come on August the 20th from 9AM-12PM (three hours) to receive their instrument, learn how to put it together, and how to play it! We have hired professionals to come in on that day to teach them how to do these things. It is required for all students but if there is a prior commitment please contact me as soon as possible.

After School Commitments:

We have no after school activities all year except for the following:

Instrument nights on August 16th and 17th

Saturday Jump Start Camp on August 20th

Our two concerts. One at the beginning of December and one in May. Those dates are being finalized this week.

I ask that for these few dates that you make it a priority for the students to be at these events. I pride myself on keeping my class during the school day and letting your students do other activities throughout the school year. Playing sports and being in clubs is just as important as band.

Ask me any questions that you have.

-Ms. Menendez
